Artificial Intelligence, broadly speaking
AI, The latest craze since the Dot Com bubble or the Blackberry. Will it take our jobs ? Will it enable us to do more ? Who knows ! Without realizing how much brain space I’ve allowed it to occupy, I’ve spent much of 2026 ruminating on the topic. Here I’m going to dump an unordered list of some of those thoughts, and we’ll see how they age. There will be some hot takes in here, and some unsubstantiated statements. If you detect a hesitant note in my writing so far, it because I am. That’s the tl;dr.
Home Baked Climbing Holds
Recently I discovered that I had lost all of my documentation from the time that I tried to DIY climbing holds from my little apartment in Montreal. I’m going to try to recall everything I learnt, re-try my final recipe, and re-document it in another post for anyone who wants to try themselves.

River nicely frozen over, no problems there ! The thing looks huge from afar, really imposing and beautiful. Another ice waterfall off to the left would also have been an option, and anywhere else would be a classic. But once we got up close to Topaze, we didn’t want anything else.
The South Ghost
March 11-12 2023 Angus and I and his friend Alex went into the South Ghost looking to climb Anorexia Nervosa, Wicked Wanda, and The Joker. Possibly there were some others on the list.
